There are different reactions from Malawians on Madonna’s adoption like how is the baby “an orphan in extreme hardship” when he has a living father and was being given food and shelter at an orphanage?

But the general consensus is that Madonna is doing a good thing and the NGOs fighting against it just want attention to fatten their wallets.

Of course they were also concerns that the biological father was not well informed what the adoption really means.

Others are worried about change of culture, identify and so on, but for most people: survival is put first. How can you enjoy your African roots when you’re likely going to die of malnutrition? Of course in the case of Baby David, he was relatively well cared for at the orphanage.

Some political leaders are calling on local Malawians to emulate the example and adopt a child as well.
