Many parts of the city experienced flash floods and mud slides. Soche, Manja, Ndirande, Chilomoni, Machinjiri. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other parts of southern Malawi are suffering. All along, I was worried it would hit southern Malawi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I experienced Cyclone Ana last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And now Cyclone Freddy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since last weekend, I&#8217;ve been reading and amplifying tweets from Malawi. Connecting with friends on Whatsapp. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My thanks go out to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/onjezani\">Onjezani Kenani<\/a> and team for their immediate response. You are heroes. Zikomo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To all of my readers: Please don&#8217;t forget Malawi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please help Malawians to rebuild their livelihoods.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Buy Malawian products. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many world-class products. Macadamia nuts. Kilombero rice. Soybeans. Groundnuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coffee from Satemwa, Mzuzu, Njuli, Chipunga, Namikango.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tea from Mulanje and Thyolo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ask your local caf\u00e9 to offer Malawian coffee and Malawian tea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consider travelling to visit Lake Malawi. Lakeshore hotels and cottages are open. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Support faith-based charities and local help organizations. My family founded and maintains <a href=\"https:\/\/chombo.ch\/\">Chombo children&#8217;s home<\/a> in Chirimba, Blantyre together with a dedicated team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Together we will help and rebuild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ancient poetry that I heard today:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
