I saw another group further up and thought to myself: &#8220;OK, this will be a group of nordic walkers&#8221;. I was wrong. I passed another group of joggers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.reuters.com\/felix-salmon\/2012\/10\/15\/why-theres-less-high-frequency-trading\/\">Stalemate of the Spambots<\/a> reminds me of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.livestream.com\/liftconference\/video?clipId=pla_08a3016b-47e9-4e4f-8ef7-ce71c168a5a8\">this Lift 11 talk by Kevin Slavin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>(&#8230;) the bots have poisoned the stock-trading waters so much that even the bots themselves fear to go in<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This Forbes article on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/deannazandt\/2012\/10\/16\/the-tyranny-of-anonymity-reddit-and-the-future-of-your-body-online\/\">doxxing and Reddit<\/a> caught my attention. Lots of salient points about Internet culture. <\/p>\n<p>Snippets like: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;anything that&#8217;s written by (including code) and run by humans is biased, often unintentionally&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>or<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;there is no such thing as an agnostic, neutral service&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Social services are moving trains, organisms that we&#8217;ve created and infused with our own humanity.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Wow. Maybe we should just pull the plug. This is larger and more powerful than any sci-fi.
